Every Artist Needs a Sketch Pad

My Li'l Bear and I both have birthdays in August...she turned 11 recently...(notice I'm not telling you how old I turned)
And for her birthday she asked for canvases and paints and brushes which I had so much fun shopping for... Never stop creating and exploring sweetie!  Remember, you are God's masterpiece - beautiful!

And some time back I made a little sketchbook for her (she's constantly drawing all over the place) using Graphic45's old Renaissance Faire collection. (which has since been filled)

You might like to make one too or rope in a little buddy to do this with you:

September Class Sneaks!

There are lots of exciting things coming up in September...
one is a secret....shhh...(tell you on August 31)

And the others are not so secret.  Here are three album classes that I designed for September's class.

one album's bound with rings and has pull tabs: (CS - TODAY)

one is 12X12" and has an altered cover and 20 pages all to be completed in a 4 hour class (CS - ALBUM)

and another is handsewn with twill strap hinges, button sewn spine and lots of vintagey bits. (CS-REMINISCE)

sorry if the sneaks are a little fuzzy....I snapped these in a hurry with my phone so they aren't fantastic. But all the albums are at the store already so you can see them up close in person and that's always better right? :)

See you in September!

Here's a little simple project that I made using the lovely Little Darlings collection  from G45....kept everything clean and neat and decided not to do fussy cutting so that it's got a simple patchwork style.

This Shop is Not on Orchard Road

Hello! Thank you to all the lovely ladies who came and spent their day with us working hard at this class:

(please pardon the photo quality - camera phone lah)

Antique Store... which we built from cardboard
I hope you all had fun building your antique store and enjoyed 'playing' with it at home and putting in all the little bits of furniture and things.

These are my favourite bits:

The store window...handstamped...

the doorknob with hanging sign...

the sales counter inside with shelves on the wall....

the slightly functioning clock (the pendulum swings)

The pile of mail sitting on the counter...

and my most most most favourite of all....a little 'bell' to ring for service.

Thank you again everybody for your enthusiasm and effort - thank you for letting me indulge in such flights of fancy!

Look Ma, No (G45) Pattern Paper!

Once in a while its fun to give things a little twist, just to get the mojo going.  So, for this month's Graphic45 project I decided to 'make things difficult' for myself and not rely on any pattern paper for my project, and see what I could make if I just stuck to using Graphic45 Staples - a bit like having just bread for lunch?....or rice if you're Asian... (writing while hungry....can you tell?)

Here's what I made:

It's a little sketchbook made from the Graphic45 kraft envelope album.  And I used lots of Graphic45 staples (but I cheated a bit and stamped images from the Olde Curiosity Shoppe Cling 2 set)

The inside is suitably empty.  With kraft cardstock pasted onto the envelope surfaces for better drawing.

All in all, I must say I really like how this adventure turned out - it's making me love those Graphic45 staples even more! What can I say? I love 'bread' - especially when it's 'crusty' like this:

I think I could eat it all the time!...maybe with a little ham and cheese now and then eh? ;) ....apologies....this food metaphor is getting a bit out of hand.

Anyway, just in case you wanna have a go, here's a little step-by-step:
Oops...and before I forget.  Here are the ingredients...

GRAPHIC45 SUPPLIES:
1.  Kraft envelope album
10. envelope tags

OTHER SUPPLIES:
1. kraft cardstock - American Craft
2. cardboard box
3. word sticker - Cosmo Cricket
4. string - my own

Installations...

We recently did some paper installations for a wedding.

With butterflies that bounce along...

And Critters...

and their cousins...

contributing their cuteness...

and paper professionals primping the place... (and themselves)...

Look out on the PaperStylist blog for pics of our full installation revealed!  My blog only got mummy's point of view...haha!
