Treasure Box

Here's another of my projects that will be running at PaperMarket Raffles City in April:

It's an altered vintage box:

With a matching mini album inside:

And in class you'll get to learn how to create this texture on the side of the box:

The class is called DS-Treasure.
I'm very "chop-chop" this week....sorry! Busy with moving and packing.  Will ramble a bit more when I've settled down....heh.

Life is a Colour Kaleidoscope

Today was the last day of class at Laines..... and it was great to have Mer, Cheryl, Grace, Joyce, zaz and Janice there - I think it's lovely that we ended the day with friends. :)

Here's a recent album.  I love the colours and the woodgrain papers.  (Pity my night time photography doesn't quite capture the colours correctly - the cover is actually this lovely shade of teal). This class will be running at PaperMarket Raffles City in April, so you can sign up there if you're interested. (It's called DS - Kaleidoscope)

 I built the album from scratch so in class you get to learn how to make the rainbow spine:

There won't be time to put in the photos and embellishments on the inside pages, but we will be playing with fireworks mists (you'll get a free bottle to take home) and I'll share my 'secret formula' for finishing up all the pages :)

Benny left His Heart in Seaworld

With the new term started up....we're trying to get everyone back into the old routine. And let's just say some are having a harder time settling down to studies than others...

Maybe he keeps thinking about...

seeing the big shark...

 with his little shark.

 Or maybe he misses...

being a seagull...

with his sister and cousins.

And maybe Singapore weather can't compare to...

Oz sunsets....

 at the beach.

But if he's anything like me, he probably misses....

having time to just hang out...

be silly...

 and have fun...

 with family...

You're not the only one who misses the holidays Ben...

 

 Oh, and incidentally, I'm almost done with scrapping this holiday in my Smash Book.  Wanna see?

I'm following Mer, and joining in the SMASH! party.  Mine is yellow (the International one) and I changed the cover up to look like this:

And just in case you're wondering what a Smash book is...there's a video on Mer's post where you can get a better idea.

It's fun!! I like that I can gather all the things I need to record one holiday in just one small ziploc bag so its really quick and easy.  And I love love love those tapes...

I printed all my photos quarter 4R so there's lots of space for writing and other stuff.  And did up a few pages last night really quick:

The Smash! stuff is out at PaperMarket already and they're moving out fast! (hint hint)

Back from a Break

Harlow! We just got back from spending time hugging Koalas and Critters:

We all loved the beaches there and also SeaWorld.....so, here's a little nautical card using Majadesign's "Life By the Sea" collection in keeping with the theme:

Back to work, back to work....I like my work though, so that's a good thing :)

Bye Bye Wheelock Place

Some of you might have already heard....Laine's is moving out of Wheelock Place.   I knew that this might happen one day, but where did all the time go?!!! (warning - nostalgia ahead)

Bye bye Wheelock Place:

You saw our beginnings... (sorry Laine and Iver, couldn't find your aprons!)

I will miss the little piece of sky I get to see through the classroom windows

and the sound of the shutters lifting in the mornings.

Most of all, I will miss the special Laine's 'feel' (and smell!)

We'll be taking a while to move out so there'll be a moving sale and lots of packing to do over the next few weeks.  And just in case you're wondering, classes will still be on in March but come April, us teachers will be moving too ....to PaperMarket that is :)  Promise you'll come by and visit me in my 'new home' K?

Cardboard Book

Hey ho! The March challenge is up over at scrapforhelp and the challenge this time is to use corrugated board.  The thing I use corrugated board (or cardboard box) for most often is for book covers.  Sometimes I wrap it up but this time I thought I'd let the lovely kraft colour of the box be seen and just dress it up a bit with stamping and other bits. (kraft goes with everything!)

 

The book opens...

 To reveal lots of lavender paper from Majadesign's Ska' vi ta en collection.

For you bookbinding fans out there, the book was bound with long stitch.  And I ended up hating the string I used for stitching so I found something to cover it up:

 

And of course, that turned out to be my favourite thing on the book. typical. But I'm still looking out for an old antique spoon so I can replace the one I stole from the kitchen....

This album (or rather a slightly modified version of it) will be taught as a part of a scrapevent in Uddevalla (Sweden) that Maja Design is sponsoring.  A very very big thank you to Creativica and Karin for this opportunity. My sweet friend Karin will be teaching the class and I hope everyone will enjoy making the book from scratch.
